Tori Amos Talks "Teenage Hustling"

From the San Diego panel...

"A fan asked what Amos' daughter thought of "Comic Book Tattoo." Amos told a story about her daughter 'discovering' some content from the book recently, and the conversation they had about it.

"'Mommy, these two girls are kissing?'"

"'Yes. How did you get this?'"

"'I got it on your computer.'"

Guess whose story that was?!

"The Newly-Bearded C.B. Cebulski"

My mom is Sweden this summer visiting my grandmother and is trying to teach her about the internet and explain a little about what I do for a living. To this end, she's asked me to post a picture of myself from the con. As much as I hate pictures of my fat ass, I figured I'd oblige in this case. So here's me at the Marvel booth at Wednesday night's signing. Hej san, Mormor!

I'll have copies of Wonderlost, Drain and Compass for sale at the Image signings, and you'll be able to buy Tori's Comic Book Tattoo at their booth all weekend as well, while supplies last.

And as I think I've kinda worn out that cute Captain America sketch I've been doing for the last two years, I'm gonna try and switch it up and do a Darkhawk headsketches this year if people ask. Mike Perkins tried to show me how to do DH in Chicago, and I need a little more practice, but if you wanna have me ruin your sketchbook, just ask and I'll give it a try!

Oh, and if you scroll a few posts down, you'll find my SDCC Panel Schedule.

Hope to see you out there!

Derek & Simon: Peanuts!

Many of you might already be familiar with this, but I'm still new to the whole Web TV game and am just catching up on a lot of the original series available here on the net. One of the best that I've come across is "Derek & Simon: The Show" on SuperDeluxe.com. As the blurb on the site reads, the show "follows real-life friends Derek Waters and Simon Helberg as they chase girls around Hollywood. But there are elements conspiring against them - namely the girls themselves, not to mention Derek and Simon's own incompetence in winning them over." Sounded right up my alley and it was. It's a fucking riot! Want proof? Take five minutes and watch this quick episode "Peanuts!" for a taste. Trust me, you will not regret it!

Two Soleil Comics Out Today

The third issue of Barbara Canepa and Alessandro Barbucci's SKY DOLL hits today, adapted into English by yours truly. There's an interesting early review up here. This issue also features a preview of another newly licensed Soleil title, YTHAQ: THE FORSAKEN WORLD, by Christophe Arleston and Adrien Floch, which I'll be adapting as well.

You should also be sure to check out Marvel's other offering from Soleil this month, UNIVERSAL WAR ONE by Denis Bajram. It's a amazing sci-fi epic that should just not be missed!

New Samura Art Book

My buddy Aki just dropped me an e-mail to let me know there's a new Hiroaki Samura art book out!

Ultimate Alliance: Fusion

Although I had to unfortunately decline working on the sequel to the Ultimate Alliance video game, I'm excited as hell that they're making a follow-up and know it's gonna kick all kinds of ass! The teaser trailer for Ultimate Alliance: Fusion was just released at E3 this week...

My SDCC Panel Schedule

Yes, I'll be at San Diego Comic Con next week (or Comic Con International in San Diego, if you wanna get technical) but I won't have a booth or a table this year. As I'm working for multiple companies across multiple media on multiple projects, I wanted to take this year to walk around and have meetings and meet people and enjoy myself without being glued to a solitary spot. But you will be able to find me as I'll be appearing on numerous panels and doing several signings over the course of the con. First, here are the panels I'll be on...

Thursday, July 24th, 1:45PM, The X-Men Panel in Room 6B

Thursday, July 24th, 4:45PM to 5:30PM, Mondo Marvel Panel in Room 6A

The ChesterQuesters are coming!

You know, I've been so busy this past month that it didn't even occur to me that three comics hit last week featuring the artwork of new talents that were discovered during my ChesterQuest Worldwide Talent Search...

Marco Turini from Italy made his Marvel penciling debut on Squadron Supreme #1.

Penciler Marco Castiello and colorist Barbara Ciardo of GG Studios, also from Italy, were featured for the first time in America in Secret Invasion: Front Line #1.

And the always incredible David Lafuente, a Spainard living in London who I met in Dublin, had his amazing artwork grace the pages of Hellcat #1.

And these guys are just the tip of the iceberg!
